Blinds or Fabric Shades to Reduce Outside Noise
The dividing line between blinds and shades may appear to be a gray area, but from a manufacturer's perspective, the line is clear. A blind is a manufactured product that operates with either a wand or cord to control the angle of horizontal or vertical slats from a single headrail. Shades are operated using either a roller mechanism or a series of cords, pulleys and cord locks to control height adjustments from a mounting board. Although fabric shades do not provide the diffused light and view options of blinds, their versatility and noise-reduction benefits take up the slack.
